EditorSYNC — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Compass Studios LLC, a Delaware limited liability company that operates the EditorSYNC platform ("EditorSYNC," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the EditorSYNC website, applications, and services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account information — your name, email address, password, role (e.g., creator or editor), and profile details.
  • Workspace and project content — projects, pipeline stages, video links, uploaded files, comments, review notes, and messages you create or share through the Service ("User Content").
  • Communications — messages you send to us (for example, support requests).
  • How you heard about us — when you sign up we may ask how you found EditorSYNC. Answering is optional.

Information from connected accounts:

  • If you connect a YouTube channel, Google shows you exactly what EditorSYNC asks for: permission to upload videos to your channel, and read-only access to your channel's basic details. We do not receive your Google password.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage and device data — log data, IP address, browser and device type, and how you interact with the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Service;
  • Enable collaboration between you and the editors, creators, and clients you work with;
  • Authenticate you and protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support;
  • Improve and develop the Service; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your projects, files, or messages to build advertising profiles.

3. Google and YouTube Data

What we access. With your permission we access: your YouTube channel's ID, name, picture and subscriber count; the videos you upload through EditorSYNC (to confirm they reached your channel); and the ability to upload a video and its thumbnail to your channel when you press Upload to YouTube.

How we use it. Only to connect your channel, show which channel is connected, upload the videos you choose, and confirm the upload. We never post, edit or delete anything on your channel without your action.

How we store it. We store your channel's ID, name and picture, and the access tokens Google gives us. The tokens are encrypted before they are stored and are only used by our servers; they are never sent to your browser.

How we share it. We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone except as needed to provide this feature (Google itself and our hosting providers), to keep the Service secure, or when the law requires it. People at EditorSYNC do not read it unless you ask us to for support, or for security or legal reasons. We do not use Google user data to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.

EditorSYNC's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

How to disconnect. Go to Settings → Integrations → Disconnect Channel. We ask Google to cancel our access and delete the tokens and channel details we stored right away. You can also remove EditorSYNC at any time from your Google account's permissions page. Deleting your EditorSYNC account deletes this data too.

Your use of YouTube features through EditorSYNC is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as described here:

  • With your collaborators — User Content you share within a workspace or project is visible to the people you share it with (your creators, editors, or clients).
  • With service providers (sub-processors) — we use trusted third parties to host and run the Service, including:
    • Supabase and Lovable Cloud — database, authentication, and storage;
    • Vercel — application hosting;
    • Google / YouTube — for the integrations you connect;
    • Stripe (when paid plans launch) — payment processing.
    These providers process data only on our behalf and under obligations of confidentiality and security.
  • For legal reasons — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or EditorSYNC.
  • In a business transfer — if EditorSYNC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

5. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users 13 and older.

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or provide us any information. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has provided us information may contact support@editorsync.com.
  • Users between 13 and 17 must use the Service with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

This approach is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete content or close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Residual copies may persist in backups for a limited time before being overwritten.

7. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. Access tokens for connected services such as YouTube are also encrypted at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate information;
  • Delete your information;
  • Export / port your information;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing; and
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Users in the EEA/UK (GDPR): Our legal bases for processing are typically performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (for optional integrations), our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service), and legal compliance.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@editorsync.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. International Data Transfers

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the U.S. or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by posting the updated Policy with a new "Last updated" date or notifying you in the app). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
